Nusantara Beat

Nusantara takes its name from the Indonesian word designating the islands of the immense archipelago. Nusa means “island” in several local languages, and in Sanskrit, Antara means “between”. Nusantara therefore means “between islands”. Following this same spirit of hyphenation, but this time between instrumental modernity and classic Indonesian sounds of the 1970s, the sextet Nusantara Beat performs music infused with funk, psychedelic rock and traditional songs. On stage, the group creates a captivating groove, delivering the perfect cocktail of funky and mystical sounds to carry audiences away to an imaginary island where percussion, surf guitars and synthesizers thrive.
